Serve a Meal
Every single day, 220 meals are served at Our House. To feed the men, women and children who call Our House their home, we need your help. Some groups come on a regular basis, serving dinner once a month for years. Other groups sign up to help on a one-time basis. Many of our dinner-servers have been diligently meeting the needs of the homeless at Our House for years. Thanks to the faith-community, civic groups and socially reponsible corporate citizens, our dinners are taken care of for the next year. We still need help with lunch!
Serving lunch at Our House involves buying the food, preparing it, and serving it. We ask that enough lunch is made to serve 30 – 50 people. The people who eat lunch at Our House are on campus because they work at night, it is their day off, or they are taking part in one of the educational programs at the Adult Learning Center.
We invite you to eat alongside our residents. Sitting with our residents and eating with them can be an eye-opening experience and a great way to show someone that you really care.
Our shelter is family-friendly, as there are over 30 children who live at Our House at any given time. You are welcome to bring your children with you as you serve a meal.
Some examples of lunch meals are:
- Sandwiches, chips, fruit salad and cookies
- Taco bar
- Potato and chilli bar
- Pasta, bread and salad
- Chilli and hot dogs
- Pizza and salad
If you would like to provide lunch to the residents of Our House, please contact the Community Engagement VISTA.
