Family Housing

Our House is the only program in Central Arkansas that provides transitional housing to homeless families. The Our House Family Housing Program consists of two buildings with 18 units. Residents stay in a private family room and share a common living room and kitchen. The program is unique in that it enables married people to stay together as a couple (rather than being split up in men's and women's dorms) and parents to stay with their children.

The Family Housing Program provides residents with the opportunity to transition out of homelessness and into permanent housing. Residents are in charge of their own meal preparation and residents, led by a "house manager," keep up with their own chores and shared responsibilities.

75% of residents are families and 25% are individuals. The Family Housing is a longer-term, comprehensive program. Residents may stay in the program for up to two years and are required to work, save 75% of earnings, and participate in education and training activities.

The two Family Houses are both more than 50 years old and require significant renovations. A campaign is currently underway to raise capital funds to improve these buildings. To help makes these buildings a better place for homeless families, please click here.
