Life Skills
The Learning Center offers different life skills classes at different times based on the needs of our clients. Many of these programs are made possible through partnerships with community organizations and volunteers. For an up to date list of our life skills classes, please visit our class schedule online.
In partnership with Centers for Youth & Families the Learning Center has offered several six-week courses on parenting. Students discussed and processed issues around their ability to provide a safe and stable environment for their children.
Conflict Resolution
This class teaches adults techniques to resolve conflict in a healthy and effective way. It emphasizes the cultivation of leadership, responsibility, problem solving, and communication skills.
Nutrition
This 8-week course focuses on healthy eating and cooking habits. It is offered in partnership with the Cooperative Extension Agency.
Money Management/ Financial Counseling
The Learning Center regularly offers two classes on Money Management. There is a 6-week course designed teach residents saving and accounting skills. A monthly 2-hour workshop in partnership with the Family Service Agency provides information on creating a budget, operating a bank account, balancing a checkbook, and managing credit.
